Benton Hot Springs Map

Spring Synopsis: Population of Benton: 13½ - that’s two people per tub!  Enjoy a hot soak in one of seven bathing areas, including antique redwood tubs, located in a beautiful outdoor setting with views of the White Mountains.

Seasonal Accessibility: Open year round.  Elevation is 5,626 feet.

Camping Availability: There are some campsites available, or you can stay at the Inn at Benton Hot Springs.

Services at spring: Snacks and drinks are available onsite.  Large tent rentals and catering services are available for reunions and weddings.  Baths cost $6 per person, or $15 per tub per hour.  You can also rent a tub for $10 overnight, soak when you want, however much you want.  Reservations are accepted.  There’s a small store with gas pumps in Benton, on Highway 6.

The Spring(s): Perhaps the purest hot springs in the world, natural mineral water rises at 135º and is piped to every home in Benton.  The hot water is also diverted to a cooling tank, providing the only cold water to the area.  Visitors can relax in one of seven tubs, each is equipped with hot and cold taps so the bather can control the water temperature.  Four tubs are antique redwood, two are fiberglass and the last is made of stone.  Tubs are located under the shade of Cottonwood trees, in a lovely oasis type of setting.  Foliage separates the different bathing areas where nudity is allowed, although discretion is encouraged.  Tubs are drained and cleaned between each use, so no chemicals are ever added to the water.

Directions: From the tiny town of Benton take Highway 120 west for a few miles to a left turn onto Foothill Road (which is still Hwy. 120 on some maps).  Head south for another 2 miles and the hot springs are right there, visible on almost any map.

Additional Information: The owners of Benton Hot Springs would like to encourage a family type of atmosphere; they offer a small sanctuary where visitors can relax.  Because each bathing area is private, personal nudity should be as well.  They are in no way related to or interested in any connection with the clothing optional mindset.

Nearby Attractions: Hot Creek thermal area.
